Karena Sklavounos

Karena provides science instruction and support across all Empowered Prep locations. She works both virtually and on-site to ensure students fully understand course material and meet academic standards. Before entering education eight years ago, she worked as a marine biologist and research scientist—experiences that help her bring real-world scientific perspective into the classroom while fostering curiosity, critical thinking, and confidence in science.

Fun Facts: Originally from Philadelphia, PA, Karena is a dedicated hockey fan as well as a proud hockey mom and aunt. She’s a certified yoga teacher and an avid traveler, especially when it comes to visiting National Parks. She also loves learning and is always exploring new interests and experiences.
